Dental Trauma Treatment

The management of Dental trauma is distressing for both the child and parents. Dental trauma is common in general Dental practice and may compromise previously healthy teeth. If diagnosed poorly and treated incorrectly the result will affect self esteem and quality of life with long term financial consequences.

Treatment for Dental trauma requires accurate diagnosis of the injury, identification of the injured tissues, first aid treatment and evaluation of the short term and lifetime consequences.

Dental trauma can have a devastating impact on the individuals smile, their confidence and growth and development. 90% of these accidents will occur before age 21 with 50% of children suffering dental trauma by age 14 years.

Correct diagnosis and an understanding of biological healing processes are necessary to achieve the optimal outcome.

Our staff has been instructed to immediately prioritize any patients who have been injured. After hours information is available by phoning the surgery and listening to the recorded message.
